Matt joined King Conservation District in December of 2016 to coordinate projects as needed for District Operations. Matt graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s in Political Science focusing on communications and the environment. He then served as a Peace Corps Volunteer supporting sustainable agriculture and community based resource management in Tanzania and The Gambia. In the Peace Corps Matt managed and collaborated on grants for a youth fruit tree nursery, improved animal husbandry, and HIV/AIDS education. He coordinated program operations for the UW Department of Laboratory Medicine and worked with Principal Investigators to secure and implement both Federal and non-Federal grants. During this time he earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Washington’s School of Environmental and Forest Sciences, where he studied agricultural ecology. The cultural resonance and fantastic ecosystems of Cascadia drive Matt to improve the relationship between people and the environment.
