The Executive Director of King Conservation District, Bea Covington, has been awarded the Northwest Area District Manager of the Year award by the Washington State Conservation Commission. Ms. Covington distinguished herself through her leadership and willingness to commit King Conservation District resources to further the work of the Puget Sound Conservation District Caucus. Bea orchestrated an office move resulting in a productive, collaborative and inclusive new work space. She skillfully uses collaboration and builds consensus among a broad group of diverse stakeholders to achieve on-the-ground solutions to complicated environmental issues. The Commission noted that “Her background in agricultural and natural resource economics gives her a keen eye to find balance between conservation and sustainable agriculture”.

Matt has been with KCD since 2016. Originally brought on to coordinate grant submissions, Matt also supported and coordinated volunteer, education, and outreach events through the Engagement team. He has since moved over to the Food and Farm Team to make full use of his talents as a Resource Planner.
