KCD’s restoration Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) crews hit the ground running last month. These hearty crew members will play a crucial role in restoring and protecting healthy streamside habitat over their year of service. Their hard work clearing noxious weeds and planting resilient natives helps improve habitat and the health of our watersheds.
WCC Member Recruitment
WCC member recruitment is now underway for the 2021-2022 program year starting in October. WSCC has open member positions in all of their regions.
COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement
Governor Jay Inslee recently announced a requirement for state employees, on-site contractors, and volunteers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment, with limited exceptions. Washington Conservation Corps has confirmed that AmeriCorps members are also subject to the Governor’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate. This means that all WCC staff members as well as all new and returning members will be required to verify their vaccination record or seek a medical or religious exemption by October 18. Washington Conservation Corps is still clarifying the implementation process, but this requirement will be part of their member recruitment for the 21-22 program year.
