King Conservation District (KCD) has an immediate opening for an entry to mid-level technical member of a team of conservation professionals. With work in the field and office, this position involves labor intensive, multi-faceted duties that require a high level of motivation, versatility, and independence. The individual holding this position primarily provides Conservation Corps crew and restoration contractor operations support, habitat restoration project logistics coordination, and natural resources technical assistance services through KCD’s Riparian Habitat Stewardship Program and Annual Bareroot Plant Sale. Duties include managing, training, and coordinating the daily activities of full-time Conservation Corps work crews and occasional oversight of other restoration contractors, in the implementation of riparian buffer enhancement projects on private land. Duties also include planning, coordinating, and overseeing all activities at KCD’s Wetland Plant Cooperative Nursery and Native Plant Holding Facility and planning and coordinating the Annual Bareroot Plant Sale. The individual holding this position works in the field approximately 70% of the time, must be flexible in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment, possess strong leadership and communication skills for managing crews and volunteers. They must have demonstrated experience in riparian restoration best management practices and techniques and be skilled in mechanical equipment and small tool operation and repair. They must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be highly organized and able to work well independently and collaboratively and share a vision and passion for natural resource management and conservation practices with District staff, program participants and stakeholders.
