Sustainable Renton Community Farm Expansion
Description
The proposed project is to expand our current Community Farm. This expansion will include 10′ x 20′ garden plots that will be rented by Renton community members, a small food forest with fruit trees and native berry bushes, and several 10′ x 20′ plots dedicated to growing vegetables for our Free Grocery Store. The Free Grocery Store is a drive-thru food pantry that happens every Monday evening, distributing over 20,000lbs of gleaned groceries and local produce to over 500 people every week. This grant will help pay for fencing that will be needed to surround the new area to prevent deer and other wildlife from eating the plants as well as several fruit trees and native berry bushes.
