Eat Local King County: Growing King County’s Local Food Economy

Description

Tilth Alliance proposes launching the first phase of Eat Local First King County (ELF KC), an initiative to grow the local food economy by increasing demand for local food and growing sales for KC farmers and food businesses. ELF KC activities will highlight KC farmers, ranchers, cheesemakers, brewers and other local food producers as well as retailers, chefs and restaurants who procure locally; will raise awareness of the benefits of local food; and will connect consumers to food producers and providers in KC through a new regional page on the Washington Food and Farm Finder. In this first phase ELF KC will also plan and implement ELF KC Month, a consumer-focused marketing and promotion campaign featuring KC food producers and food business with an emphasis on engaging priority populations. ELF KC will partner with CHOMP!, KC farmers markets and other local food organizations to ensure its activities are aligned and integrated with existing initiatives to promote local food.
