Regional Food System Program Evaluation Report

In the last quarter of 2022, King Conservation District (KCD) partnered with Cardea Services to evaluate our Regional Food System (RFS) program.

KCD’s RFS program supports projects that contribute to the economic viability of local farmers, encourage new farmers, expand acreage in food production, improve food access, and increase demand for King County farm products.

After a year-long process, we are excited to share the results. The evaluation of the RFS program identifies strengths and opportunities for growth in support of more equitable grant processes and explores KCD’s grant investments within the food system.

The results of the evaluation also provide recommendations for how KCD can improve grant processes, accessibility, and contribute to systems-wide impacts within the food system landscape in King County.

This evaluation would not have been possible without the support and input from our food system partners who participated on a Community Expert Council and in surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
