KCD’s Community Agriculture Seed Money Grant is now open!
Seed Money Grants support the creation of new community agriculture projects and the sustainability of existing projects. This in turn promotes resilient food systems and communities and safeguards food sovereignty*. Projects will be selected based on potential for community impact, engagement of diverse groups, and natural resource stewardship. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until September 30th, 2026, or funds are exhausted.

A “Community Agriculture Project” includes any group that is growing food together for the benefit of the community.
Eligible projects include:
- Raised garden bed construction or repair
- Composting systems
- Micro (drip) irrigation
- Rainwater catchment
- Fruit tree/shrub plantings
- Fruit tree/shrub pruning
- Pollinator plantings
- Native plantings
- Invasive species removal/weed control
- Small greenhouse or hoophouse
- Soil amendments (top soil, lime, fertilizer, compost, etc.)
- Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
- Other projects with a demonstrated natural resource consideration
All projects require an initial site visit before funds are awarded, as well as a closeout site visit at the culmination of the project. Free technical assistance and support can be provided by KCD upon request for project planning and implementation.
Groups that currently hold a KCD grant are not eligible to apply for the same community agriculture project. Applications from groups that have previously received a Seed Money Grant will not be reviewed until March 1st, 2026 to allow other organizations the opportunity to apply. Projects must be located within KCD’s service area.
Grant applications must be submitted through the online grant portal. You must have a username and password to log into the online grant portal.
