Conservation District Election Reform
King Conservation District is committed to pursuing election reform with the Washington State Legislature and making our elections more accessible to all voters. KCD regularly meets with Washington State legislators to discuss election reform and has convened an Elections Reform Subcommittee of our Advisory Committee to further these efforts.

KCD Resolution 19-011 Elections
The League of Women Voters put together a good history of Conservation District elections and issues in 2011:
Washington State Conservation District: A Report by the League of Women Voters (2011)
Since then, the Legislature asked the Commission to give an update in 2015:
Conservation District Elections Budget Proviso Report – June 2015
In the 2020 Legislative Session, there was momentum for reform by former Representative Zack Hudgins, Representative Mia Gregerson, and Representative Gerry Pollet:
HB 2415 – 2019-20 Conforming elections for certain special districts with Title 29A RCW.
That bill died in House Appropriations.
