Cover crops are a great tool for farmers and gardeners to improve soil health and protect natural resources. They can provide a range of benefits including: protecting your soil from compaction and erosion, providing a boost of nitrogen to your crops, conserving water moisture, weed suppression, carbon sequestration, wildlife forage and blooms for pollinators.

Learn from a local organic farmer about how he uses a variety of cover crops at Steel Wheel vegetable farm in Fall City. KCD staff will also be available to answer questions about how we can support farmers in using cover crops and other practices. Our local Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) planner will also be present to talk about their cover crop resources.

Lunch will be provided after the tour and attendees will have a chance to socialize, learn from each other and get any additional questions answered.
