Introduction to Forest Stewardship for new, inexperienced, or intimidated forest owners

NOTE: If you are a new forester please add your name to the waitlist if the event is full. We usually have a few spots open up as we get closer to events and will add you from the waitlist when this happens.

Forests are a tremendous value for property owners and our region as a whole. If you care about the environment and have a small forest or woods on your property but don’t spend much time there, this tour will teach you about the many benefits of caring for your forest. You will learn how to begin stewarding your forest and some of the tools and resources available.

Whether you want to use your small forest or woods for enjoyment, environmental benefits, or growing forest products there are people and resources that can help you! Join us on Saturday April 8, 2023 for a free forest tour to learn about how to start caring for your forest or woods. Learn from a property owner’s experience and a KCD forester about the activities that can get you started and resources that are available to help small forest owners.

Topics include:

  • Why forest stewardship is important
  • Getting started with forest stewardship: where and how to begin
  • Fun forest projects: tapping maple trees and growing edible mushrooms.
  • Creating and maintaining forest trails
  • Where to find help and more information

This tour is intended for small lot forest owners who have not yet engaged in forest stewardship activities on their property. We want to set you up for successful stewardship and more enjoyment of your forest.
