Join King Conservation District on a tour of a Black Diamond residence that has installed streamside buffers to protect water quality and improve the environment. See the ways that the homeowners have made these projects work for their lives and property. KCD staff will also share why these practices are so beneficial to the environment and what support is avaialble to homeowners interested in improving their streamside areas. Topics will include:
- Recognizing and controlling common weeds
- Recognizing native plants and planning successful planting projects
- Benefits of habitat features like snags, woody debris, and unarmored channels
- Erosion control and project maintenance
- What to expect as your planting project grows and matures
- Land history and how previous human use shapes current projects
