Did you know that with the right environmental conditions, we can have wildfires in Western Washington?
In 2019, approximately 40% of Washington State wildfires were in Western Washington. Wildfires can be incredibly destructive and dangerous when they occur in or around communities of people. Paradise, California, sadly is one very recent example of a community that was devastated from a such a wildfire event. While we are staying home and staying healthy, there are several simple actions we can take to prepare our homes, families and communities to be wildfire resilient this fire season.
KCD is bringing our Fire Safety Friday series to your living room on Friday, May 1, 2020 at 1:00pm for a one-hour live webinar on how you can protect your home and community from wildfire. Hosted by KCD’s Wildfire and Forest Resiliency Project Coordinator Matt Axe, we want to help you get ready for fire season and for Community Wildfire Preparedness Day on Saturday, May 2, 2020.
This webinar is a collaborative effort with Washington Department of Natural Resources, King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks, Eastside Fire & Rescue, and King Conservation District.
