Mary Olsen Farm Tour Highlights

Last month KCD partnered with Mary Olson Farm to host a Plants and Pollinators Open House at Mary Olsen Farm in Auburn! We had an amazing turnout—95 attendees!—including local Girl Scout troops earning their plant and pollinator badges. We love to see it!

Attendees at the open house learned about how native plants and natural landscapes support native pollinators, as well as how to create their own pollinator gardens. Speakers provided education on pollinating insects and other animals, and their important role in agricultural food production, gardens, and native plants in our own backyards. Volunteers from The Xerces Society shared knowledge on invertebrate conservation, a local beekeeper gave a demonstration with his bees, and KCD’s Education Team created a game to learn pollinator and plant co-evolution. Attendees also had the opportunity to practice their new knowledge by playing pollinator bingo during their time on the farm.

Thank you to everyone who came out and to Mary Olsen Farm for hosting this educational and impactful event!
