King Conservation District is pleased to announce our 2025 Member Jurisdiction Grant recipients. This program supports conservation projects in partnership with 34 cities across King County and unincorporated King County. The funding awarded helps communities advance local stewardship by addressing city-specific natural resource needs. In 2025, King Conservation District awarded $794,000 for 18 conservation projects across King County.
Member Jurisdiction Grants are awarded to cities that partner with community organizations to design projects that address both local priorities and broader conservation goals. The aim of funding these projects is to improve environmental conditions across our region through locally scaled impacts. Member Jurisdiction funding supports projects that restore habitat, protect water quality, and educate stewards, as well as projects that innovate communities’ natural resource management, like pilot and demonstration projects, and capacity-building initiatives.
These projects represent community driven efforts to protect and enhance natural resources throughout King County.

$25,000 to Auburn for the 2025 Auburn Farmers Market (AFM) – Marketing & Demonstrations
Through an aggressive marketing campaign, gardening, cooking, and healthy living demonstrations, the Auburn Farmers Market plans to increase access to local farm products and healthy living practices to the South King County community.
$10,000 to Bellevue for the Habitats at Home – Display Garden
The creation of a 800 square foot display garden at the entrance of the Bellevue Botanical Garden themed after sustainable gardening that supports pollinator and wildlife habitat in partnership with the King County Master Gardeners.
$80,000 to Bellevue for the 2025 Bellevue Well KEPT Program
Funding for the 2025 season of the Bellevue Well KEPT (Kids Environmental Project Training) program. Environmental and career training for high school students.
$19,000 to Bellevue for the Lake Hills Greenbelt Ivy Tree Removal_Phase 1
Bellevue will contract with EarthCorps Crews to remove tree ivy in the Lake Hills Greenbelt. This site is adjacent to an older restored area that was KCD funded.
$3,000 to Carnation for the Carnation Tree Giveaway and Arbor Day Celebration and Education
The City of Carnation would like to support the expansion of our tree canopy through tree and tree seedling giveaways to Carnation residents and attendees of the Arbor Day celebration. We also want to increase tree education.
$1,700 to Clyde Hill for the 2023 Arbor Day Celebration
$15,000 to Des Moines Farmers Market for the 2025 Senior Low-Income Healthy Eating initiative
Our unique Senior Low-Income Healthy Eating Program helps King County low-income senior participants purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, bread and other qualifying food items at the
Des Moines Farmers Market through weekly $10 free market tokens.
$20,000 to Environmental Science Center for the 2025 Renton Community Education and Outreach
The Environmental Science Center will bring free water quality programming to the Renton general public. These programs will raise awareness and promote behavior change about methods to address and reduce stormwater pollution in their neighborhoods.
$10,000 to Friends of Issaquah Salmon Hatchery FISH for the From Canopy to Curb: Salmon-Friendly Neighborhoods in Issaquah Education and Outreach Campaign
Partner with the City of Issaquah Parks and Public Works departments to increase community engagement at the native tree giveaway in November and expand the event to include Adopt-A-Drain program education and recruitment.
$264,400 to King County for the 2025 Agriculture and Forestry Programs
This project will support management of King County Farmland and Education and outreach for Farmland Stewardship, a demonstration of Agricultural and Forestry best practices and capacity building through the Farmland Preservation program.
$75,000 to Kirkland for the 2026 Restoration and Maintenance of Natural Areas in City Parks and Open Space
Funding is requested to support the Green Kirkland volunteer program by contracting a restoration crew to help with restoration and maintenance of natural areas in City of Kirkland parks and open spaces in 2026.
$7,000 to Kirkland for the PlanITGeo 2023 Canopy cover and Stream Canopy Assessment
Work with PlanITGeo to incorporate 3 years of canopy assessment in CANOPY program and to assess additional layers for Tree Canopy Cover change within critical area stream buffers for Critical area and stormwater management.
$45,000 to Maple Valley for the ShoreScapes Program Implementation
This project is implementation of the City’s new environmental stewardship program to encourage waterside property owners to plant native plant buffers to reduce pollution runoff, reduce shoreline erosion, and provide habitat, called ShoreScapes.
$10,000 to Maple Valley for the SE 280 Street Tree Replacement
This project provides for the replacement of street trees on SE 280th Street.
$160,000 to Mid-Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group for the MJ25011 – Wingfield Open Space Restoration Final Design and Permitting
MSFEG and the City of Covington propose to complete final design and permitting for an in-stream restoration project that promises to improve salmon habitat through improving riparian buffer density, water quality, and channel complexity.
$14,500 to Restoration Analytics and Design for the 2025 Normandy Park Community Foresters Stewardship Program
RAD leads work parties and educates participants on techniques and strategies in ecological restoration while working with Community Forester steward volunteers on the plateau region of Marine View Park in the City of Normandy Park.
$17,000 to White River Valley Museum for the Rotational Grazing and Blackberry Management
The Farm seeks is to install a new fence to bisect their pasture for rotational grazing and to hire a goat herd to work on blackberry management in the Farm’s parking area and along its orchard and into the forested hillside.
$17,640 to Woodinville for the Community Based Social Marketing Campaign: Dumpster Lids
Woodinville implements a behavior change campaign that encourages businesses to close dumpster lids. Woodinville needs to revise the current social marketing strategy. Funding from KCD will support research, strategy development and implementation.

Jessica has managed the Member Jurisdiction and WRIA Grant Programs at KCD since March 2007. Jessica has a Bachelors degree in Environmental Studies and Spanish and graduate level education in the fields of Public Administration, Urban Planning, and Facilitation and Negotiation. She is an experienced program manager responsible for tracking millions of dollars in grant funding with a successful track record of liaising with local governments, nonprofits, and watershed groups on natural resource conservation issues.
