In 2023, KCD grant staff partnered with Advisory Committee members from Sound Cities Association to update the Member Jurisdiction grant application with questions about how projects will address equity and how project outcomes will be evaluated.
In 2023, King Conservation District awarded $984,163 for 26 projects in partnership with 13 jurisdictions. Seven of those grants were awarded to KCD-Seattle Community Partnership nonprofit recipients totaling $413,000 and can be viewed here; 19 of the grants were awarded to other member jurisdictions and nonprofit organizations as shown below.
Visit the Member Jurisdiction Grant Program page to learn more about the program, see funds available for your city, and submit a new grant application.
Please help us spread the word about this funding opportunity that is available to 34 cities in King County. Not every city knows about these funds or that they can choose to partner with nonprofit organizations by designating the group as an applicant. Nonprofit organizations and other groups can manage the grant requirements on behalf of the city. To learn more about what types of projects KCD funds, please contact Jessica.Saavedra@kingcd.org via email, call 425-773-9065, or schedule a meeting with her via Calendly.
KCD is made up of thirty-five Member Jurisdictions (34 cities and unincorporated King County). A portion of KCD’s revenue collected from Member Jurisdictions is set aside as grants for conservation projects prioritized by that Member Jurisdiction. Jurisdictions can utilize the funds for city-led conservation projects, partner with a nonprofit organization to carry out a conservation project or contract with KCD to utilize the funds for an urban forestry project.
