King Conservation District (KCD) is excited to announce the launch of our Resilient Communities Bridge Grants! These grants are intended to support equity, environmental justice, and natural resource conservation for organizations that have a demonstrated funding gap resulting from the loss or reduction of prior funding.
These grants are intended to support community or city-led projects that demonstrate a commitment to environmental justice. Funding will be prioritized for projects that are Tribal and Indigenous-led or have a focus on natural resource conservation in historically or systemically marginalized communities.
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted online through KCD’s grant portal by Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 5:00 pm. To apply, follow the steps at the bottom of this page.
Who Should Apply
- Tribes and Indigenous-led organizations,
- Community based, nonprofit or fiscally sponsored organizations with a demonstrated focus on natural resource conservation in historically or systemically marginalized communities
- Member Jurisdictions (cities)
Natural Resource Conservation Funding Priorities
In addition to a clear commitment to historically or systemically marginalized communities, community-led projects must advance natural resource improvements that strengthen community resilience, with a focus on one or more of the following areas: sustainable agriculture, stormwater and flooding, riparian restoration, forest health, and wildfire resilience.
Project examples include, but are not limited to;
- Regenerative farming training program for BIPOC farmers covering topics such as cover cropping, composting, and reduced tillage that builds capacity by providing supplies and equipment.
- Urban agriculture program that increases access to fresh, local produce in food deserts, improves soil health, increases green space by creating or improving community gardens or farms.
- Indigenous-led riparian restoration projects that improve water quality, wildlife habitat, reduce erosion and the impacts of flooding through planting native plants, removing invasive plants and other techniques.
- Urban heat resilience and tree canopy expansion projects that target tree planting in heat vulnerable neighborhoods, improves tree canopy coverage and fosters climate adaptation.
Funding Available
KCD has set aside $1.5 million in funding. Projects must benefit KCD ratepayers and adhere to local and state guidelines as well as KCD grant policies. Applicants may request between $10,000 and $100,000 in grant funding per project.

How To Apply For A Grant
In order to apply for a grant you must have a user name and password to log in to the online grant portal. If you have received a grant from KCD before, contact us for your user name and password. Your contact information is already in our system. If you have not applied for a grant before you will need to create a new account. The online grant portal will also be used for after-grant award agreements and reporting.
