Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s annual native plant sale! Your purchase helped KCD distribute nearly 60,000 native plants across our local landscape. Planting native makes a real difference for our local ecosystem by restoring pollinator habitat in your backyard, promoting a seedbank where you live, and increasing tree canopy for your neighborhood. Your support also allows us to run this event each year and make native plants available to our community members for the lowest cost possible. What really makes it worth it, though, is you!
We love seeing your enthusiasm for planting native! And we can only make this happen by working with King County’s community members who are dedicated to making a difference for conservation. Whether you plan to beautify your home, shore up a creek bank, or replace a troublesome ivy monoculture with a diverse array of native plants, we’re glad you came out to collect your native plants. We hope your plants take root, grow strong, and help restore our natural landscape across King County.
Major thanks is also due to our Washington Conservation Corps crew, and to Pierce Conservation District’s WCC crew who packed all of the orders for this event. Together, they packed over 1200 orders! Year after year, our WCC crew puts in outstanding work that makes this event possible.
Thank you, as well, to our volunteers who joined during the week to help with distribution and our partner orgs who came out to table with us, Beavers Northwest, Washington Department of Natural Resources, and WSU Extension School of Forestry.
